About Me

Hi! My name is Rebecca Galcik and I am a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer and a Pn1 Certified Nutrition Coach. Currently, I am an online Fitness Coach and offer Private Personal Training in the Santa Monica, CA area.

How did I end up here?

Growing up in Arizona, I was a dancer, singer and actor from a pretty young age. I was at the dance studio for hours on end. Then one day, I shredded my lateral meniscus in my left knee, had to have surgery, and was told I should not dance again.

Devastated and navigating high school, I did not have a physical outlet and my relationship with food also started to get rocky. I found the “fitspo” side of Instagram and started doing Youtube video workouts in my room. I then decided to give the gym a try and found it incredibly intimidating so I signed up for one of those free sessions with a trainer…It did not go well. I nearly passed out and left feeling worse and more out of shape than when I walked in.

I needed a better balance. I needed guidance. I needed sustainable eating and nutrition habits. And I really needed to stop doing 3+ hour workouts 7 days/week. I did not have a healthy relationship with food or my body. I struggled with an eating disorder and over exercising for years. One day, I said enough is enough and wanted to be strong, muscular, and healthy.

So I gave myself the guidance. I started going to the gym to lift weights by myself. I would follow workouts I found online and started doing my own research. Then I did more research…and more…fixed my form…and started to see results…and started to love it.

Then, my friends started to come to the gym with me and ask for advice. And that’s when I realized I wanted to be a trainer.

I am now a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) with over 5 years of in person one-on-one training as well as online programming and coaching. I am also a Certified Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition, and am always catching up on the latest “trends”, articles, books, and studies for fun and to help you separate the real shit from the bullshit.

So now I am here to help you on whatever phase of your fitness journey you are on.

My nutrition and training philosophy

I used to have the mindset of “I have to go train”, and I would dread it. Flipping this mindset and saying “I get to go train” and appreciating my body and the way it can move, made me not take a day of movement for granted. I believe in finding the workouts based in science that work best for your goals, experience, more. Random workouts create random results. Workouts should be in some sort of program to see progress.

Nutrition is also extremely personal. What works for one person may not work for another. A lot of it is trial and error and learning how different foods make your body look and feel. Education around food, creating meals, finding swaps, and more is important for life long results.

I also believe that habit forming and mindset work are crucial in getting where you want to be for the long term. I don’t believe in quick fixes or fad diets. If you create a habit around your training and nutrition, it will become something you don’t think about as hard and it may even turn into something you LOVE doing.
